Frequently Asked Questions
It's hard to determine whether or not your child needs help without a professional assessment. However, if you're on the fence, here are a few questions you can ask yourself about your child to determine speech-language therapy may be needed:
- Has anyone ever suggested speech-language therapy to you? A doctor? A parent? A teacher?
- Is your child talking? How much? Are they increasing the amount they talk or the amount of words they use over time?
- Does your child respond to questions or directions?
- Do you have a difficult time understanding your child? Do others have a difficult time understanding your child?
- Does your child repeat words or sounds over and over?
- Is your child's speech or language a point of frustration for them?
If you’re not sure, the easiest thing to do it give us a call for a free 15-minute phone consultation. One of our licensed speech-language pathologists will chat with you about your concerns and make a plan from there.
Typically, we ask new clients and/or their families to participate in a 15 minute phone consultation. During that time, we can answer questions and get more information about the client. Should the new client and/or their family decide to move forward with services, we send a virtual in-take packet to be completed. Once this is completed, an evaluation will be scheduled. Upon completion of the evaluation, goals and a plan of care will be developed. Services, the number of sessions per week, and length of sessions will be determined based on the results of the evaluation.
We have also developed a video to help your child know what to expect before coming to speech therapy with us.
This is a question that we wish we could answer with certainty. So many factors play into a client’s progress. This can include the reason for the speech difficulty, the age of the client, the temperament of the client, and follow through at home. While we would like to give concrete timelines for progress, unfortunately it would be unethical for us to do so.
This is a difficult question to answer without knowing your individual insurance plan. Prior to coming on-board, we provide all of our clients a comprehensive benefits check so that there are no surprises.
We do our best to provide accurate information and report what insurance companies tell us, but ultimately the individual and/or their family is responsible for understanding their specific policy.
Currently, we are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBS), Blue Care Network (BCN), Priority Health, UnitedHealthcare, ASR, and Cigna. We are a non-network certified provider for Tricare. We are also in-network with Priority Health Choice Medicaid and straight state Medicaid.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OTHER MEDICAID PLANS AT THIS TIME.
If we do not take your insurance plan, private pay options are available as well.
